PCIe bifurcation settings: When a single PCIe 3.0 x16 add-in card is used in the PCIe 3.0 x16 slot, it can access the full PCIe 3.0 x16 bandwidth. as for PCI4 to PCI3, bifurcation is a wiring technique, and PCI4 is backwards compatible, so splitting a PCI4 x8 to 2 x PCI4 x4 will work, and a PCI3 card in one of them will work too. PCI bifurcation is nothing more than rewiring the wires and teaching the host bridge what you’ve done from a slot# perspective. I know that the R630 currently supports it, and it would be an extremely helpful feature for my use case. Are there any plans to add PCIe bifurcation to the other 13G PE Servers? (in my case, the R530). I saw one post which referenced this issue, but haven't been able to find a definitive answer.
Is it only a bios block or does the motherboard not support it? The processor supports it (E5-2620 v3) and the UEFI version supports it and the later generation has it enabled. When installing two M.2 SSDs on PCIEX16_2, extra lanes available to map two M.2 SSDs on PCIEX16_3. When installing four M.2 SSDs on PCIEX16_2, no more extra lanes to map M.2 SSDs on PCIEX16_3.
